1. Information We Collect

When you use Criterion, we collect information that you provide directly and information generated through your use of the service:

  • Account information: name, email address, company name, and authentication credentials.
  • Store data: product catalogues, pricing, inventory levels, and other product attributes you import or sync from connected e-commerce platforms.
  • Channel data: feed configurations, optimisation rules, and export settings for advertising and marketplace channels.
  • Performance data: click-through rates, conversion metrics, and advertising spend data from connected platforms such as Google Ads, Google Merchant Center, and Google Analytics.
  • Usage data: log data, device information, IP addresses, and how you interact with Criterion.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Criterion platform and its features.
  • Generate AI-powered product feed optimisations, diagnoses, and recommendations.
  • Run adaptive experiments and impact predictions on your product data.
  • Sync data with your connected stores, advertising channels, and analytics platforms.
  • Send transactional communications related to your account and service usage.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: with trusted third parties who assist in operating our platform (hosting, payment processing, analytics).
  • Connected platforms: with e-commerce platforms and advertising channels you have explicitly connected to Criterion.
  • Legal obligations: when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate confidentiality protections.

4. Shopify Data

If you install Criterion through the Shopify App Store or connect a Shopify store, we access your Shopify data solely to provide feed management and optimisation services. Specifically:

  • We access product, collection, and inventory data to populate and optimise your feeds.
  • We store Shopify session tokens securely and use them only for authenticated API requests on your behalf.
  • We do not use your Shopify data for purposes unrelated to the Criterion service.
  • Upon disconnection or uninstallation, we delete your Shopify session data and cease accessing your store.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Product performance data and audit logs are retained for up to 24 months after generation. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information and store data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and regular security assessments. API tokens and credentials for connected platforms are stored encrypted and are never exposed in plain text.
